When pain is an anomaly
it is thought of all the time.
When pain is no stranger
but hangs around awhile
one begins to take for granted
its intrusiveness
and then it’s easier
to think of other things
beyond what’s hurting.
I didn’t read this in a book
but I’ve learned a little bit
about it in a school
I recently attended.
