I’ve got nothing against Jesus
but when somebody I’ve just met
asks: “Are you a Christian?”
I’m a tad put out.

Or when I’m asked:
“Have you accepted Jesus?”
I don’t really know what they mean.

Of course I’ve read about him
and even preached about him
but as I move toward my sunset
I’m not sure what to do about him.

Some folks think I’m in peril
and perhaps I am, unbeknownst to me.
A day at a time
with Jesus sometimes on my mind
but usually not
I go at my old life.
The judgment call
is not mine to make.
