A CODGER’S RECALL

It’s evident that the president
will soon begin his second term.

I dig back in memories
and I go back to Hoover.

And I recall
in the house where I grew up
no one felt good
concerning  Roosevelt
and even Eleanor drew scorn
near the place  where I was born.
But Franklin had four terms anyway.

Those times survive in recollections
and  by this time.
I’ve gathered quite a collection.

Where I live
some folks go back to Coolidge.
