I WAS GLAD THAT I WAS NEARLY HOME

I watched the trees

and listened to the wind.

I  saw them bend

then bend again.

I  heard  and felt

the motion of the wind.

It began as a whisper

and the whisper grew.

Then there was a rustling

and then  a wrestling.

With one quick motion

I grasped my cap.

I felt some heavy drops of rain.

I was glad that I was nearly home.

And I was glad I was not in Egypt
