THAT DAY

So sweet the contents of my life

and then the sweetness vanished.

The seat belt saved me

and I was hanging upside down —

the roof below  and I was dangling.

But soon the sirens sang

as someone’s call to 911

unleashed the help to free me.

I’d seen it many times before

and passed such scenes

I’d paused for briefly

then went my merry way.

No merry way for me that day.
