Shortly after lunch

I lay down

and buried my left eye

in a pillow.

With my right

I looked out a window

and saw white clouds —

soft white clouds —

fluffy white clouds.

Soon that eye closed

and shortly thereafter

all those clouds passing by

moved through the window

and began covering me

like a pristine comforter.

What a way

to begin a nap —

a hallway into dreams!
