MEMORIES DISTURBED

It wasn’t a pile of leaves

that I jumped into and scattered

but it felt something like that.

It was abundance of memories

that I jumped into

as I went back to where I grew up.

So many of them

have laid dormant for so long

and I definitely stirred them up.

Now that I have returned

to the reality of old age

and have come back to where

I will even grow older

I look back

to the stirring up and scattering

with mixed emotions.

I do wonder

if I have made the most of

what have I been given.

Those memories have returned

to where they lay before disturbed

and I am content

to leave them be.
