A PEANUT BUTTER SONNET

I felt compelled to try to write a sonnet
(you’ll think me crazy — The usual fourteen lines)
about a cracker with peanut butter on it.
Not just those lines but also many rhymes.

In the early morning I’m a snacker.
I look around, find the peanut butter first
and then decide I want a saltine cracker
on which I’ll spread around this insane verse

and also peanut butter — the gooey stuff.
There’s creamy and also crunchy peanut butter.
One good cracker ought to be enough
to meet my needs. “‘Tis very good!” I utter.

I bite and chew –and then I bite and chew.
Just one won’t do.  I think I’ll have a few.
