I FEEL THEM GOING DOWN

When the rain subsided
the landscape glistened.
The sun above the western trees glowed red.
Then as it set the sky turned pink
Its colors slowly faded
and then vanished.

Sadness suddenly surrounded me
and melancholy crept in with the shadows.
Too many folks I know
now emulate the earth at sun set.
Sometimes I feel them going down.
