One of my delights
this time of year:
wrapping my cold fingers around
a mug of steaming cocoa
and then sipping.
This,following a walk
in a very frigid dawn.

Taste buds and fingertips
respond with praise.
What a way
to begin the day!

Bad news from far or near
is sure to follow
and I may  be involved
in some of its unfolding.
But I’ll be back again tomorrow
and again I’ll offer thanks:
my winter litany.
