PEEK-A-BOO BLUE (In our back yard)

That moment’s coming soon:
when the blue behind the winter trees
will be blotted out by reappearing leaves —
leaves that soon will occupy
the space the sky peers through
some weeks before the winter solstice.

Branches soon will swell with green —
will wear it all through summer.
When autumn comes
and leaves begin to drop
there will be room for the sky again
to peek through with its blue.
