I stumbled across the words

in a poem

by a woman

whose name is Denise:

Reasonable gloom.

Maybe I did not so much stumble

as hesitate.

Yes, I hesitated

and then savored the two words.

This  happens to me sometimes

when I am reading poetry.

Words pop off the page

and demand my attention.

And I thought I’d mention this to you

hoping that you, too

have come across some words

that make you pause with pleasure —

so much so that you can taste them.
