THE MAGIC MOMENT

I like to be there
when
there isn’t any light —
and then —
and then there is.
I like to see the day sneak over trees
and on to roof tops
as it begins
to turn the darkened sky to morning.
It may not matter to the day
that I am there —
I’m sure it doesn’t care.
But I do.
